The spraying of polyurea involves numerous technical details, and mastering the correct application process is the key to success—any small oversight can lead to serious quality issues.

One of the main characteristics of spray-applied polyurea is its extremely fast reaction speed. It requires specialized spraying equipment and offers high construction efficiency. However, due to its fast reactivity, the surface of the material loses activity quickly. During large-scale projects, it’s often impossible to complete the entire coating in a single day. The interval between the first and second spray layers may range from several hours to over a day, or even longer if bad weather causes work delays.

When the time interval between two spraying sessions becomes too long, the first layer loses surface activity, leading to poor adhesion between the layers or even delamination.

To prevent such issues, contractors should minimize the time gap between layers as much as possible. If the interval exceeds the recommended recoat window, surface preparation must be performed before continuing the next application. Otherwise, while defects may not be visible immediately, delamination or peeling may occur after the project is put into use.
