Traditional offshore drilling platforms typically use epoxy or polyurethane coatings for corrosion protection and surface marking. However, these materials are prone to discoloration under UV exposure. Additionally, during helicopter takeoff and landing, structural deformation of the steel platform can occur, which often leads to cracking in epoxy coatings. Once cracks form, the corrosion protection fails, resulting in rust and deterioration.

Polyurea coatings, by contrast, offer both high strength and excellent elasticity, allowing them to withstand structural movement without cracking. They also provide outstanding UV resistance and marine corrosion resistance, making them well-suited for offshore environments.
